See All ReviewsThe pizza here is SO delicious. It was my first time eating new haven pizza everyone talks about, and thoroughly enjoyed it. I only have a couple complaints, specifically regarding the tiramisu. The desert and food here is not cheap, and we ended up being served a tiramisu was was basically a brick because of how frozen it was. Keep in mind that when you come here, its not by the slice. You're going to have to buy a whole pie. Great experience overall.
I have been coming to Pepe’s for over 40 years—I’ve likely eaten here over 100 times and have always considered it the Gold Standard of New Haven apizza. However, my experience yesterday at 'The Spot' was unacceptable. I arrived at 11:00 AM sharp for opening. Not only were they not ready, but I was met with blatant derision and aggression from staff (specifically an individual named Ashley and another young man). Being repeatedly brushed off and mocked for expecting a posted opening time to be honored is a terrible look for a legendary institution. I moved to the main building to salvage the visit, but the Calabrese pie was a massive disappointment—overly salty, purely spice, and lacking any of the balance Pepe’s is famous for. With competitors like Sally’s, Modern, and Zuppardi’s delivering consistent excellence, Pepe’s cannot afford to treat loyal 'insiders' with this kind of animosity. You are playing with fire by letting your service standards crumble. Get your act together.
Really good pizza, but waaay too much hype. Ordered the original tomato pie, the pepperoni with hot honey, and the white clam pizzas. Everything was good. The tomato pie was our favorite. The sauce and other ingredients were fantastic, but the crust was too tough. Not chewy, not crispy, just tough. Online ordering was a breeze, even with the volume. Would definitely recommend if you're in the area, but there are better places out there.
